The Premier League window closed last week, but somewhat surprisingly neither Manchester United nor Manchester City were among the five highest-spending clubs, with even a promoted side spending more sbo222 than the two giants. In this week’s international feature for Soccer Laduma's newspaper, we chatted to BBC journalist Simon Stone about the English transfer window. As part of the feature, we looked at how much each Premier League side has spent in the June to August window, and here are the 10 highest-spending sides.Liverpool lead the ranking after upgrading their squad for €182.2 million (R3.1 billion), while Chelsea, who backed new manager Maurizio Sarri with €137 million (R2.3 billion) follow in second place.Leicester City lost their African superstar Riyad Mahrez, but spent €114.6 million (R1.9billion) in seven new recruits, making them the third-highest spenders.Newly promoted side Fulham surprised many after splashing out €109 million (R1.8 billion) this window, slightly more than West Ham United, who complete the top five with €103.85 million (R1.7 billion).Everton were the biggest spenders on sbo222 deadline day and spent €99.8 million (R1.6 billion) overall on their new signings, with three of them coming from FC Barcelona.Jose Mourinho’s United, who were among the top spenders in recent years, only appear in seventh position this time around after paying €82.7 million (R1.4 billion) for their new arrivals.Arsenal have given their new boss Unai Emery €79 million (R1.3 billion) to sbo222 spend, while in Wolverhampton Wanderers another promoted team appears among the top 10 after spending €72.25 million (R1.2 billion).Pep Guardiola’s City were also quieter than in previous windows and only spent €71.19 million (R1.1 billion) this window.
